In the next episode of Vanished Chicagoland Stories The Podcast, I will discuss my memories of Snipets. Plus, WGN-TV anchorman Jack Taylor.
Jack Taylor, the longtime anchorman at WGN-TV Channel 9 in Chicago, has passed away. He was 94. I will do a tribute podcast episode on Vanished Chicagoland Stories The Podcast soon! So sad.
Here is a 1960 photo of a station wagon featuring the WCFL-AM 1000 radio station logo at a parade on State Street in Chicago. Notice The Mandel Brothers Department Store which eventually closed, and Wieboldt’s.
Today is World Cancer Day. We need to be aware, prevent, and treat this horrible disease. As a prostate cancer survivor, I am still fighting this. We can all beat this!
Here are four photos of The Ford City Bowling Center that was located at Ford City Shopping Center in Chicago. I used to go there a lot when I was a teenager. Fun times! Photos credited by Bill Slusarczyk.
Here is a photo of two boys in their living room playing a video game on a Atari 2600 home video game console. Notice the ONTV subscription box on top of the TV set. The photo is from the early 1980s.
